Interview with Philippe Karsenty
Philippe Karsenty is the French Jewish politician who publicised
the hoax involved in the
staged TV "news report" of 2000
about the alleged death of 12 year-old Palestinian boy,
Muhammad al_Durrah. In the France 2 video news the child was shown cowering against his father,
and was then reported shot by Israeli bullets. The video had a viral spread and contributed its measure of hatred against both Jews and Israel. Yet close inspection of the video
showed bizarre implausible elements.
Bullet holes in the wall against which te child and and his father were crouching
are abolutely indicative of direction from which the bullets were fired,
which conclusively shows they were not fired from the Israeli position.
A child named Muhammad al_Durrah was buried -
yet ultimely it was found that that child was dead in hospital hours before the hoax
incident. The video scenes were cut from a 27 min video produced by a Palestinian
video reporter Talal Abu Rahma and no one of France 2 witnessed the alleged scene.

Broadcast 49:
One of those few permitted to see the entire 27 minutes reported that there were scenes of teenagers
racing back and forth -- clearly during a staging.
And in addition,
the child "victim" opened his eyes
and looked at the camera AFTER the time in which
in the France 2 voice-over he is reported dead. At no stage is there any blood or appearance
of injury to the child. The numerous bloggers
who discussed and analysed the hoax could be ignored --
but not Philippe Karsenty a political figure in France.
After he publicly and forcefully described the al_Durrah Affair as a deliberate hoax,
France 2 sued Philippe Karsenty for libel.
After a series of hearing, ultimately the Court of Appeal hearing demanded that the entire 27 min
of the video be screened in court -- with the inevetiable result that the libel case was dismissed.
Yet this is not the end of the matter.
A Higher French Court - Cour de cassation - has ruled that the effect to get to the real facts by viewing
the video was somehow illegal -- and has sent the case back to the Court of Appeal with instructions
that facts ascertained from the video are to be ignored in reaching judgement.

The Maabarot
Many of the 975,000 Jews expelled from Middle Eastern and North African countries
who came to Israel were placed in tent cities called maabarot.
Some families lived as long as twenty years in maabarot before
moving to regular housing. Here are some scenes of maabarot life
in Israel in the early years of the reformed state.
